Good news! Not to be outdone by Pfizer’s Covid Vaccine, Moderna has released early results from their study showing an effective rate of 94.5% for their own treatment.

Moderna recruited 30,000 volunteers to take place in this trial, 25% of them being 65 or older – an at-risk demographic for the virus. 95 participants ended up getting sick from the virus, but 90 of them had received a placebo and not the vaccine. This result is what led the researchers to their determination that the mRNA vaccine is 94.5% effective against Covid-19.

Like the Pfizer trial, more testing needs to be done but it is very encouraging to see so much progress being made independently on the vaccine front.
